To move?
So I was doing some research today, and I really wonder if I should move this blog to a webhost. See I want to make a profile for career opportunities, and webhosting can help with that. I could have my profile at www.smithc.net , while my blog is at www.smithc.net/blog.
I'm sure you can see where my logic is at here. Much simpler, and a little more professional. I would end up spending $10 more a year; I'm currently paying $10 now for google's services. I really wish google would offer webhosting. It would make life so much simpler. If I did choose to switch to webhosting, it wouldn't be to hard to import this blog, onto that server. So I have no worries over losing anything old. It almost seems like a little bit of a headache though, especially since I've been trying to draw traffic to my blog
I think it really comes down to when I have my portfolio made and ready to be posted. Because at that time I will be weighing my options on how to host it, and at the same time integrate it in with my existing domain name. It may be a while until then, because I am going to build my whole portfolio site in flash. Yeah, gotta show off some of my computer skills ;)

Upcoming weekend
I don't think I will be blogging at all this weekend. So I decided I'd post up my plans for the weekend. I have a couple of big highlites. I will be getting a new HD TV. I had received a bonus from work today, so I'm going to put it to good use ;) . Right now, me and my brother share a 20" old tv, that is horrendous to play split screen games on. The new tv I am getting will be 32". It's not to big, but will be a major upgrade from what we have. Plus, it's going to be sweet to play some Halo 3 in hi depth.
I'm also going to my dad's new property this weekend. Him and my step-mom bought a house in foresthills ca. They have no internet up there, hence that reason I don't think I'll be blogging. Who knows what I'm going to do while I'm there. It's just the 3 of us, so it may be pretty boring. Maybe I'll take the opportunity to play some more old school warcraft 3 RTS.
So what are you the reader, up to this weekend?

Tired of these muthafckn snakes!
I'm sure this news story has spread everywhere in the blogospher by now, but I had to comment on it. For those of you who haven't heard yet, a police station in Sierra Leone has been over ran by about 400 cobras and vipers. Screw snakes on a plane! This is real life, and is in a police station. It has gotten so bad, that the police officers and people reporting crimes don't want to return to the station. Now the army and fire departments have been called in to get the snakes out. Snakes charmers have failed!! They are going to try and flood the station with water, but the problem is that the next place these snakes are going to go are in neighboring houses. I can see the news report now of all the people getting attacked by these 400 snakes passing through.
A little geography for you. Sierra Leone is a country in West Africa. Africa is a continent for you idiots who were thinking to contradict me. Sierra Leone borders a forest and the climate is just great for snakes. They people of Sierra Leone are returning back after leaving due to civil war. They have other animal related injuries from wild animals taking over in their absence.
If it were me, I'd say torch the police station. Humans 400, snakes 0!!

I was wrong
I told a lady to use google docs, as a way to password protect individual documents that she is linking on her blog. Turns out that wasn't entirely true. You actually have to invite the people who are going to be viewing the document. These people log in with the email you invited them on, and can either view or modify the document depending on what you specify. This is a big pain in the @$$. For something like google docs, having an extra tier of security couldn't hurt, and could help protect some of those really sensitive documents someone may have up on there. Now I'm not saying people should keep really sensitive documents on their, but I'm sure a lot do. Hopefully around the time of the advent of the G Drive, we'll also get password protection for individual documents. Or maybe I'm just pushing my luck.

WoW Battle Bots Live!
Woot! The World of Warcraft Mountain Dew battle bots, are finally live on the servers. All you have to do is log in on their website, and click the get your battle bot on the lower right hand corner. Then you will be directed to log into your battle.net accounts. My guess is that anyone without the battle.net account, tough luck. This will effect my brother and friend I already know. Once you have you have logged in, all you have to do is log onto WoW, and pick it up from the mailbox. After you have received your battle bot, all you have to do is log into the mountain dew website once every day, to receive your battle bot fuel. I can't wait to get home and give this battle bot a try. Maybe run after unsuspecting people in Orgrimar.

Wing stop & energy drink night!
I was dog sitting at my dads all last weekend, so it was only natural to have my pal Dylin over for a bit. He's always busy, so it's hard to hang out sometimes. Especially with my living in Suisun, it's not as convenient as my dad's house being 1 min away. It's was supposed to be a pool night, but we never touched it. Ended up ordering 24 pieces of chicken from wingstop, and stocking up on energy drinks. Watched a shitload of movies, and played chess. I won the first game, he didn't want to play after :( . He came over at 6, and didn't leave until like 2:30 in the morning. He stayed late partly due to him waiting for the alcohol to work out of his system, and secondly to the time hella flying by. The movies we watched consisted of, Untraceable, The Perfect Stranger, and Guyver!!! He had never seen any of those, I'm so disappointed. Next time we get together, we need to watch Transformers. Can you believe he's never seen it!?!
And no, no pics. We weren't being much of camerawhores.

Tokyo's Neko Cafes
Ok so I'm not talking about an animecon, where you have a bunch of girls running around dressed as cats, nor am I talking about the restaurants where you get the same thing. I'm talking about a cafe filled with actual kitty cats. There are about 8 that I read about in Tokyo. Customers pay around 8 to 12 dollars per hour. They can sip tea, and read comics, all with the attention of one of the furry workers. The rules in these places highly favor the cats, and if you get nipped by one, well you shouldn't have been messing with the cat when it didn't want attention. Most customers aren't to mad though when they got nipped, or if a cat started to scratch at their jacket. Most customers report the Neko Cafe as being a great place to go to relieve some stress.
This is definitely one of those places where you'd say "only in Japan." Sadly, I think something this simple would never do well in the states, even though I think it's a great idea.
Iphone 3g S!!
pulled this pic off of apples site, shhhhhh
Apple's new phone, the Iphone 3g S, is slated to come out soon. It is also going to be release at a competable price, only $199 for the smallest 16 gig device. That's what I paid for my 8 gig 3g, the morning of it's release. Also, sadly, my phone costs $99 dollars now -_- . This pricing is a result of all the new smart phones hitting the market soon, such as the new palm pre that is dubbed the iphone killer. A lot of what is advertised for the new phone, I will get for mine on the next patch to come out soon. That would be things like tethering support, cut and paste, and my favorite, better SMS support!! Even though I'm going to get a lot of new goodies in my phones next update, I still want the new 3g S, because of 2 other features. Those 2 other features, are a better more advanced camera, and the ability to record and edit video! These are the 2 biggest hardware related complaints from all iphone users since day one.
The camera has an advanced system to automatically focus on objects dependent on their distance away from you. You can also touch anywhere on the screen to have the camera focus on that obect.
The video you record can be edited and mailed to your friends all from your phone. When editing video, each frame pops up separately for your splicing pleasure.
Now with these phones comes a new heated debate. Most iphone 3G users, want to trade in their "old" 3g, for the new 3g S. But they would have to pay double the price, because they are still locked into a 2 year contract with ATT and haven't hit the point where they can upgrade their phone. I think that right there is going to knock out a large core of the demographic whom are going to purchase the new 3gS.
My biggest problem is tethering. I wish ATT would allow us to tether out phones. I mean the phone is going to support it with the next update, but I'm not going to be able to use it. Japan has tethering!!

Yoshi love!
I saw this up on 4chan, and had to post it. I remember this back when playing on the SNES. It's all in the pic, Mario abuses Yoshi. Yoshi is the most kick ass mario/ smash brothers, character. So who ever reads this, show me some yoshi love.

Online Portfolios
I was talking with my brother (16 years old) today, and was telling him that he should create an online portfolio. This online portfolio would include a brief about me, his resume, references, and past work he has done. The most time you would spend on one of these, would be building it. The rest of the time you spend a couple of seconds updating it, and then don't touch it for a year. Well, in a manner of speaking. You may fly in and out of jobs and classes a lot. At least you can impress your potential employer, or friends, by handing them a hard copy of your resume that has a link to an online portfolio detailing your work experience and education. I'm thinking about making one myself, and may help my other brothers and sisters make one if they want. It's never to late to start, the sooner you do, the less work you have to do later on. The good thing is that I have my new domain. With my domain I have google pages, that can be used for this sort of thing. It just comes down to if my brothers and sisters don't mind have the "theirname.smithc.net". Well I think it's better than having *.somecorporation.

New navbar!!
Ik I haven't been blogging alllllll weekend. I actually logged on once to reply to a couple of people, and that was it. I will post on the b-day party I went to, as soon as I get the pictures. I think I'll have to steal them off of my moms facebook :P
Now for the update! I finally got a new navbar on this site that works with Internet Explorer! This has been one of my biggest gripes since coming back to this blog. After seeing the code, what I needed wasn't to bad, and I could have used my old navbar style. But this new navbar is centuries better. I wish I would have left my window open. That way I could provide a link to the tutorial, for other people who wish to add one to their site as well. Because I didn't provide the link, and because the code was verryyy good; if you email me, I'll mail you back that code that I used. I'll black out my links of course, but at least this way you can get one too. I will not post a tutorial up because it is not mine originally. Maybe one day I can come up with my own ideas to provide on the matter. Well good night all, best of wishes to the end of your weekend.
